Brazil police find last body part

Cara Burke with Mohamed D'Ali Carvalho Santos
Police believe Miss Burke planned to marry Mr Santos to secure him a visa

Police in Brazil say they have now recovered the entire body of murdered British teenager Cara Marie Burke.

Officers found the right leg of the 17-year-old, from Wandsworth, south London, in a river just outside the central city of Goiania.

There have been discoveries of other body parts, after Miss Burke's torso was found in a suitcase last week.

Police say Mohamed D'Ali Carvalho dos Santos, 20, has admitted the killing. He has been charged with homicide.

Police inspector Jose Maria de Silva said the leg had been identified as belonging to Miss Burke "using prints taken from the other parts we have found".

"We have now found the whole body," he said.

Following his arrest, Mr Santos told the BBC that he and Ms Burke had been "friends". Asked if he killed her, he replied "not exactly".

His brother, Bruce Lee, who lives in London, is due to fly to Brazil on Sunday to talk to police.

Officers believe Mr Santos was living in London during 2006 and 2007, and returned to Brazil this year.

Police also believe Miss Burke may have travelled to the country to marry Mr Santos to secure him a visa.

The teenager's family have denied the pair were a couple.
